Summer Activities for Families

Everyone is welcome to come along to the library during the summer holidays.
You can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge, share a story, do some colouring, play with our toys and games or have a picnic in the library garden. Our obstacle course kit is also available to use in the library garden (weather permitting).
Don’t forget you can sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge from Saturday 12th July. The challenge is free for all 5 – 11 year old. To complete the challenge you will need to read/share 6 library books over the course of the summer holidays. Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a certificate and a medal.
This year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Story Garden – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors, is all about exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature. Whether it is creating magical nature inspired crafts at one of our craft mornings, coming face to face to with some amazing live animals at our ZooLabs session, sharing a story and a picnic in the library garden or meeting an inspiring pony-loving author, Cressida Burton. There is so much to do at the library this summer, so check out our summer schedule for full details.
