There are just a few\u00a0days to go until World Book Night (23 April), a national celebration of books and reading, and we\u2019re excited about the brilliant book-related events happening around the country. The\u00a0aim is to get books into the hands of adults who don’t read for pleasure and we’d love for you to join in. Derwent Valley BRIDGE is closed that day but here\u00a0are a few ways you can take part, inspire others and celebrate the impact that reading has had on you.<\/p>\n

\"\"First of all, find out what’s happening near you<\/a> or download free resources<\/a> to set up your own event. Libraries, book shops and other organisations across the UK are running brilliant events including quizzes, book swaps and even a silent disco.<\/p>\n

Secondly, we’d like you to suggest a book you think will inspire someone to get into the reading habit. Our research shows that recommendations can have a huge impact on those who don’t currently read for pleasure, so please give a book to someone you know, or recommend a book on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using #WorldBookNight<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Finally, join our World Book Night Goodreads community<\/a> to let us know what book you are suggesting. I always give Quick Reads away on World Book Night because they are great for getting people back into reading but I am also going to be recommending Margaret Forster’s last book How to Measure a Cow <\/em>to friends. We look forward to seeing your choices.<\/p>\n
