{"id":1386,"date":"2018-02-06T14:21:43","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T14:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.derwentvalleybridge.co.uk\/?p=1386"},"modified":"2018-02-06T14:21:43","modified_gmt":"2018-02-06T14:21:43","slug":"rspb-big-garden-birdwatch-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/derwentvalleybridgelibrary.co.uk\/index.php\/2018\/02\/06\/rspb-big-garden-birdwatch-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Did any of our members take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch which\u00a0took place over\u00a03 days, \u00a027th -29th January.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pw-hidden-cp\">\n<p>With the\u00a0results,\u00a0they are able to create a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of bird numbers across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>While some changes in bird numbers can seem scary &#8211; we&#8217;ve lost more than half our house sparrows and some three-quarters of our starlings &#8211; it isn&#8217;t all doom and gloom. Since Birdwatch began blue tit numbers have risen by 20 per cent and the woodpigeon population has increased by a whopping 800 per cent.\u00a0 Your results help\u00a0the RSPB to\u00a0spot problems, but more importantly, they are also the first step in putting things right.
