David gave the history of charcoal production explaining the world wide significance that this activity had on the developments from the Stone Age through to the Industrial Revolution. He then described the current potential for the use of charcoal to profoundly affect climate change and pollution by amongst other things reducing the production of methane, the use of nitrates and the need for watering.
